A bold new direction… in hot dogs.

It’s summer, and that means it’s okay to bend the rules a little on our diets. We indulge in the not-so-good-for-us flavors of summer with a promise to ourselves to work out a little harder – next week. I made that pledge to myself last week as I made my way downtown to sample Fort Wayne’s newest street food sensation – Brava’s Dogs.

Growing Organically.

Farming has never been an easy way to make a living and no one knows this better then today’s new generation of small-scale, organic farmers. Camille Cupa is one such farmer and her Tanglewood Berry Farm is located within the city limits of Fort Wayne. She doesn’t consider herself part of the trendy “urban farming” movement; rather, ”We’re just a farm that’s not too far from the city.”

Local foods from an all-in-one farmer’s market, bistro and home delivery program.

In Fort Wayne, we are lucky to have some locally produced food options. We have a few good farmers markets; some Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs and a pair of health-food stores. Most of our regular grocery stores have an organic department or aisle of some kind, and some of our fine dining restaurants offer menu items featuring products raised or grown in our region.

Could Fort Wayne finally have a real taqueria?

For several months, on my weekly trip for groceries to George’s International Deli, I had been eyeing a bright orange store front wedged between a head shop and the excellent local brew-pub, The Munchie Emporium. The vinyl banner tied to the front read “Tacos Arandas: El Amish”. Could Fort Wayne finally have a real taqueria?
